This project is meant to be a statement on the importance of utilizing imagination and technology to enhance the world we all share. It is also a message to media viewers and concept consumers on the dangers of gobbling up media wholesale without checking facts and understanding the reality of a situation. With the special effects and editing software available to everyone, there are many ways in which we can all be deceived by government, other citizens and often times, ourselves. Please, remember to be conscious of the information you are consuming and assimilating into your beliefs as things are not always what they appear to be.

During the making of this project I wanted to find a way to use what has been considered one of the top ten greatest hoaxes of all time, and make it a reality. With alien conspiracy theories rampant on the internet, I was excited to do my part to contribute one more, often overlooked, alien cover-up.

Grover's Mill deserves to have their story heard and I've decided to tell it through the use of online gaming, website development, musical remixing, and audio editing. It was an exercise in patience and stamina, but I have survived the struggle and assassination attempts from the Government to bring you this exciting look into the truth behind The War of the Worlds.

This is War of the Worlds Revisited.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

THE ASSIGNMENT

This website is the result of a project assigned in John Barber's Digital Storytelling class during the Summer session of 2013. Each of the students was to take the hour-long 1938 radio broadcast of War of the Worlds, and whittle it down to a ten minute long sound file. We were to maintain the essence of the story while cutting out forty minutes or so of the broadcast itself. Using our edited version of the story we were to branch out into the world of transmedia to create additional ways in which the viewer could experience and enjoy this classic tale of aliens landing on Earth!

TRANSMEDIA DEFINED:

Storytelling across multiple forms of media, with each element making distinctive contributions to a user's understanding of the story universe, including where user actions affect the experience of content across multiple platforms
